Terms of use
These are the rules for using scutæ. They are short on purpose.
What scutæ does
scutæ splits a song you upload into six stems (vocals, drums, bass, guitar, piano and everything else) and lets you set the volume of each one in your browser. Your upload and the stems are never changed. A mix is only saved settings.
Your uploads
Upload only music you have the right to use, such as your own recordings or songs you have permission to process. You are responsible for what you upload. Do not upload anything that breaks the law or the rights of others.
Your tracks are private
Your songs, stems and mixes belong to your account. They are never shared, published or shown to other users. Other users and the site's administrators cannot open them through the site.
Where your files are processed
Splitting a song into stems happens on the operator's own computer, not on a third-party service. Your upload is sent there over HTTPS, and the temporary copies on that computer are deleted when the job ends.
YouTube links
Administrators can add a song from a YouTube link as a testing aid. This is not offered to other users. Downloading from YouTube can go against YouTube's own terms, which is why it stays limited to testing.
Limits
Each account has limits on file size, song length, how many songs are processed at once and total disk use. A request over a limit is refused with a message that names the limit.
Your account
Keep your password to yourself. You can delete your account at any time on the Account page, which removes your songs, stems and mixes. An account that breaks these terms or abuses the service can be disabled or deleted.
Takedown requests
If you think something stored here breaks your rights, write to and say what it is and why. It will be looked at and removed if you are right.
No guarantee
scutæ is a small personal project and is provided as it is. Separation quality varies by song, and the service can be unavailable at times. Keep your own copy of anything you care about.
